Picture of Sir Jackie Stewart with Pupils at Perth High SchoolAs a dyslexic who was not diagnosed at any time through my period of education, I feel very strongly that we have to significantly change the way that young people in particular, with learning difficulties, are given help and assistance.  This is particularly true in respect to early recognition of dyslexia and other learning disabilities.

I am extremely proud to be President of Dyslexia Scotland and have now worked for many years on the task of making Scotland a better place to live in, with more opportunities for dyslexics than they might ever have enjoyed.  We still have a long and winding road to cover, but Dyslexia Scotland will hopefully be a major player in ensuring that no one goes through the educational dramas in their life as I did.

Dyslexia Scotland of course services not only young people; there are many people today of mature years, who have never known that the problems they have endured in their growing years, as well as their mature years, have come from learning disabilities.

I sincerely hope that Scotland will lead the world in dealing with these matters for people of all ages, more profoundly than ever before.
